Sickness Absence Medicals
We offer a timely ad-hoc service for those wishing to refer an employee on sickness leave for assessment.
One of our experienced physicians will conduct an assessment in a relaxed environment in our offices at Caerleon. We aim to ascertain the likely duration of the sickness leave and their capability for the job. We offer advice on a return to work programme and general medical advice regarding their illness.
We also liaise with their NHS GP if further information is required.
Ill-Health Retirement Medicals
The assessment for those applying for ill-health retirement will vary from case-to-case.
It is usual to ascertain the capability of the individual and the requirements of the job before coming to a conclusion on their suitability for ill-health retirement based on a history, examination and, in most cases, evidence from their GP or specialist.
Prior to an ill-health retirement assessment the employer should have made all reasonable adjustments to accommodate the employee’s illness or disability.
